Endorsement Process
HOKU PAC supports māhū and LGBTQIA+ candidates and their allies, as well as policies, ordinances, and leadership that advance equity, justice, and dignity for all people in Hawaiʻi. HOKU PAC is a political action committee for county and state races only.
To be eligible for HOKU PAC's endorsement, candidates for Hawaiʻi state or county office must:

Be openly māhū or LGBTQIA+, or a proud and consistent ally;

Support reproductive freedom and Hawaiʻi’s constitutional right to privacy*;

Publicly support the rights, dignity, and safety of māhū, transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people;

Demonstrate strong community support and a viable path to victory;

Commit to advancing and defending māhū, and LGBTQIA+ civil rights through state or county policy; and

Value inclusive leadership by seeking and supporting māhū and LGBTQIA+ people in campaign and government roles.

Endorsement Benefits
Candidates who receive HOKU PAC’s endorsement will receive:

Listing on HOKU PAC's website with a hyperlink to their campaign’s website along with a donate button

Permission to use the HOKU PAC logo for endorsement listings

Promotion on HOKU PAC social media platforms

Inclusion in HOKU PAC’s voter guide

Requests to PAC supporters when additional campaign volunteers are needed (e.g., door knocking, phone banking, literature drops, sign waving)

Access to FREE trainings and capacity-building opportunities (when they become available)

A monetary contribution to their campaign (amount dependent on legal limits, PAC funds available, and campaign needs)
The responses to the endorsement questionnaire are confidential. They will not be shared with anyone outside the PAC's board members and they will not disclose your responses with anyone.
